Bairnsdale & District Field Naturalists Club Inc.

Activities

Field Excursions

  • Excursions to areas of interest around the East Gippsland region are held on the Sunday following the third Friday of the month. Members wishing to join an excursion should notify the leader as noted in the Activities Program. As most excursions traverse bush tracks, four wheel drive vehicles are most suitable for field excursions but not essential as car-pooling can be arranged.
  • Additional excursions to monitor endangered species are arranged as required.
  • Field Excursions are cancelled on days of Total Fire Ban.

Bushwalks and Camp-outs

  • Bushwalks are held on the Sunday following the field excursion as published in the Activities Program and also in The Clematis newsletter. Members meet at the Bridge Club near the Bairnsdale Railway Station or elsewhere as arranged. Departure from Bairnsdale is usually 9am but this can vary.
Members wishing to join the bushwalk should make their intentions known to the leader of the walk prior to the event.
  • To access distant locations in East Gippsland, a weekend camp-out or group accommodation is sometimes arranged in late spring or early summer.
